Shintencho Shopping Street Commercial Cooperative Association, Shintencho Shopping Street Corporation, Parco, Nishi-Nippon Railroad, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation established the “Tenjin 2-chome South Block Ekimae Tozai Kaido Urban Planning Promotion Council” and submitted a plan outline to Fukuoka City, which is promoting the “Tenjin Big Bang” urban redevelopment project.
To improve the traffic environment where pedestrians and automobiles intersect, and to solve the stagnation in front of the station as well as the lack of space for bustle and relaxation, the current subdivisions of the city will be reorganized.
The project will include a plaza, pedestrian network (through, underground, and overhead walkways), and east-west connection of parking lots, and will be a phased and linked project spanning multiple city blocks.
The project will be promoted with the aim of opening in 2030.
