Airbnb Japan has released “Happy Eating Soup,” a breakfast recipe that can be easily prepared in accommodations with kitchens.
This holiday season, for the first time in three years, it is possible to travel without extreme activity restrictions. The result was a breakfast that could be easily prepared and eaten by guests themselves. The result is this recipe.
Mr. Takashi Matsuo, Director of Public Relations, introduced the company’s name, which stands for “Air Bed and Breakfast,” and pointed out that travelers’ awareness of the Corona Disaster has been changing. He said that the new travel trend is to think about what you want to do first, and then match your vacation to the timing that allows you to do what you want to do.
To meet such needs, the company added a function to its website in May of this year that allows users to search for accommodations without entering a date or location. The site offers recommended accommodations in categories such as “sophisticated design,” “historic buildings,” and “countryside,” each of which represents the value of the experience at the facility.
Airbnb, which is based on so-called “minbaku,” introduces many accommodations with kitchens, and they hope that people will enjoy making breakfast at such facilities as part of their experience.
According to Mr. Toba, “It is important for recipes to have margins (that can be freely arranged). If you try adding local ingredients that are often sold at roadside stations and other places, even if you don’t know them, they will surely taste good. Soup tastes good no matter what you put in, so I recommend adding kiritanpo, sweet potatoes, or local chicken. It can be a hassle to chop vegetables, but I like the feeling of having done that,” he says.
The key ingredients would be tomato juice (or vegetable juice) and consommé cubes. All that remains is to fry and cook small chopped vegetables and meat such as bacon. Basically, it is a combination of items that could be found at any supermarket, but Mr. Toba says, “I want people to freely enjoy the arrangement and conversation, such as me adding Tabasco.
