Bengaluru Water and Sewerage Improvement Project (Phase 3) (Phase II)

Posted on 2022-12-09 by Editor in Chief

In India, the development of water resources and water supply systems has not kept pace with the increase in water demand due to population growth and economic development. The same situation applies to the development of sewage systems, which requires the development of hygienic sewage treatment facilities. Furthermore, the operation and maintenance of water supply and sewage systems face technical and financial challenges such as high non-revenue water ratio, low rate of fee collection, and low pricing, and in some areas facilities are deteriorating due to lack of financial resources for maintenance and management.

Bengaluru is known as the Silicon Valley of India, and with Bengaluru City at its center, the region is rapidly developing as the center of India’s software industry, and many Japanese companies have established operations in the region. This is a major limiting factor for the development of the Bengaluru metropolitan area.

This cooperation aims to provide stable water supply and sewage services to meet the rapidly increasing water demand in the Bengaluru metropolitan area in the southern Indian state of Karnataka by constructing water supply and sewage facilities using the Cauvery River as a source of water.
