Haruka and Kuroshio trains to stop at Osaka Station with the opening of Umekita area, 47 minutes to Kansai International Airport. Outline of timetable revision for other limited express services

Posted on 2022-12-13 by Editor in Chief

JR West has decided on the operation system and other details for the opening of the Umekita area in the northern district of Osaka Station, scheduled for spring 2023.

In order to relocate and underground part of the line from Shin-Osaka Station to the Osaka Loop Line (Tokaido Line branch line), a new underground platform will be installed as part of Osaka Station in the near vicinity of Osaka Station (Umekita area). The underground platform will accommodate the limited express trains “Haruka” and “Kuroshio,” which did not stop at Osaka Station before. In addition, trains on the Osakahigashi Line, which operates between Shin-Osaka and Kyuhoji, will also board the platform.

The “Umekita Underground Exit” and “West Exit” will be established in the vicinity of Osaka Station, and these will be connected underground to create a connecting passageway within the ticket gates.
