Hawaii’s Beautiful Landscapes 2022 Edition! A Look Back at the Miraculous Natural Beauty of Hawaii

Posted on 2022-12-13 by Editor in Chief

Diamond Head Diamond Head was formed by an eruption over 300,000 years ago and has been loved by locals as one of the symbols of Oahu. It changes its appearance depending on the season, so when people see it, they say things like, “Oh, it’s already winter,” or “Oh, summer has arrived! Summer has arrived! Looking back at Diamond Head over the past year, …… January 2022 was in the middle of the rainy season. The mountainsides were covered with a velvet green color due to the abundant rainfall. In May, the mountains are still slightly green, but the trees are beginning to wither and brownish areas are beginning to appear. In July, the sky changes to summer colors. The brown Diamond Head sits majestically under the clear blue sky. October is when the season gradually changes to the rainy season. This is the view just before the brown to green season begins. Just looking at Diamond Head is enough to fill one’s heart, but climbing up the mountain is just as good. Since it was closed on New Year’s Day, which I was aiming for, I went there on a sunny afternoon in January. A 360-degree view from the top can be seen at …… Note that hiking Diamond Head requires out-of-state visitors to make reservations in advance online to reduce crowding. $5 per person. Parking is $10 per car; reservations can be made 30 days in advance.

Sunrise – The sun rises from the direction of the mountains when viewed from Waikiki, so if you go to the beach, you can see the sunrise from Diamond Head. Just a month ago, I was walking on the beach just after sunrise and saw a rainbow of sunlight on Diamond Head. It was just before 9:00 a.m. in October. At Fort De Russy Beach, clouds were scattered across the blue sky as if they had erupted from one place beyond the ocean. After rain comes the gift of rainbows. On this day, when the season changes to the rainy season, a rainbow connecting the sea and the land was visible after an early-morning shower. February is still the rainy season. When the sun appeared on Kaimana Beach in the morning, the rain stopped and a double rainbow appeared.

Magic Hour – Sunset – I used to dislike sunsets because they seemed lonely, but as I watched the sky turn orange and purple every day in Hawaii, it became my favorite time of day. Especially during the winter, when the sun sets over the ocean on the west side of the island, don’t miss it! Kaimana Beach in January, just before sunset time at 6:00 pm. On this cloudless day, the big sun was slowly setting. In November, I was able to watch the sun go down while covering the Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach, a hotel overlooking Waikiki Beach. Autumn evening sky. Like smoke coming out of a chimney, the clouds were spreading over the tops of the buildings and were tinted by the setting sun. Sunset in Lahaina, Maui, at the end of summer. The sun set at the boundary between Lanai, the sea, and the sky on the left.
