Freight rail construction project (Phase 2) (Phase III)

Posted on 2022-12-15 by Editor in Chief

In India, the capacity of freight railroads is approaching its limit in response to the increasing volume of cargo transport, and the development and strengthening of railroads, which are more environmentally friendly and capable of mass transport compared to road transport, is an indispensable issue for the country’s economic growth. In particular, there is a need to increase the output and speed of freight railroads on the “Golden Quadrangle,” connecting the capital Delhi with Mumbai and Kolkata, the gateway ports to the east and west of the Indian subcontinent, and Chennai in the southeast, and to enhance transport capacity through linkages with other transportation systems.

This cooperation involves the construction of new lines between Dadri and Rawali and between Vadodara and Mumbai, two of the planned freight-only railroad sections between Delhi and Mumbai, and the introduction of fully automated signaling and communication systems and high-power, high-speed locomotives. The new lines will contribute to the broad-based economic development of India by introducing fully automated signaling and communication systems and high-powered, high-speed locomotives.
