The Paris Life of Mami Araki] First time in 3 years! A “normal” end of the year at the Marché de Noël with no restrictions

Posted on 2022-12-222022-12-22 by Editor in Chief

Paris 1st arrondissement The venue is the Tuileries Park near the Louvre Museum. It is a large, glamorous marché with a mobile amusement park. There was also a Santa Claus sitting for photos.

For two days, a Japan-themed marché was held at an event space in the Japanese district of the Opera district in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris. Clothing, food, pictures, knick-knacks, etc. were lined up everywhere, and there were huge crowds!

Paris 4th arrondissement An African-themed marché was held for two days at a gallery in the fashionable Marais district of Paris. The African printed clothing was very nice. Alcoholic beverages in gorgeous colors! The Paris Olympics coming up in two years will also be well represented at this event.

This is a marché in a park near Notre Dame Cathedral in the 5th arrondissement of Paris. There were many one-of-a-kind handmade works. I bought a nice warm ceramic star-shaped ornament. Notre Dame, which suffered a fire in 2019, is still undergoing restoration work, but is expected to open to the public in 2024.

A small marché on a street near the Saint-Germain-des-Prés church in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. Inside the church is a crèche that recreates the scene of the birth of Jesus Christ, which is placed there on the 25th of each month.

In a tent set up in front of the Gare de l’Est in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, a marché was being held with a theme of the Alsace region of France. The marché in Alsace, especially Strasbourg, is very famous, and here, in addition to choucroute and sausages, there were sweets from Saint Nicolas, the model for Santa Claus, and manara, a human-shaped bread eaten to celebrate Saint Nicolas Day on December 6, giving visitors a taste of Alsace. The menu included a variety of sweets made by Saint-Nicolas, the model for Saint-Claude.

Paris 16th arrondissement, Marché in front of St. Thérèse church. There is a puppet theater and ponies on some days, recommended for children. A crèche competition was being held inside the church, and unique crèches were lined up along the walls.

Paris 18th arrondissement This is a marché with a Made in France theme in the Montmartre district, symbolized by the Sacré Coeur temple. It is a very small marché, so there were many visitors speaking foreign languages, perhaps stopping by while sightseeing.
