JICA President Akihiko Tanaka met with President Macky Sall of the Republic of Senegal in Tokyo on December 19.
At the beginning of the presentation, President Tanaka introduced that new cooperation projects in education and fisheries will be launched in Senegal, that plans are in place to promote business development in other areas, and that a study is being conducted to examine the possibility of cooperation involving private investment as required by the Senegalese government.
In response, President Sall expressed his appreciation for Japan’s broad cooperation, which has certainly produced results, and said that he hoped for more cooperation involving the private sector in the future. They also exchanged views on the importance of working toward food security and on working with ABE Initiative alumni to get the private sector involved in Japan-Senegal cooperation.
