JR East will introduce wearable cameras to station employees as soon as they are ready after December 26. The company plans to introduce the cameras at about 15 stations in JR East’s service area by the end of the fiscal year.
By installing cameras, the company will be able to check live images in the event of a problem, establish a system to quickly rush to the scene, accurately grasp the situation and circumstances, and make appropriate judgments and responses.
The wearable cameras are worn by employees on their arms or chests and are used when patrolling station premises and train cars. When the camera is in use, a display will indicate that the camera is recording.
The video data captured will be used for purposes such as trouble prevention, and the acquired video data will be stored for a certain period of time and then deleted.
