With restrictions on international traffic almost on par with pre-Corona levels, it has become more fun to make travel plans. In the midst of all this, the Hawaii Tourism Authority has released a series of virtual tour videos that provide the latest information on hotels and tourist facilities. The 10-minute video includes “I want to go to Hawaii!” and is packed with updated information perfect for those who are thinking, “I want to go to Hawaii!
The Moana Surfrider Westin Resort & Spa, nicknamed the “First Lady of Waikiki,” is located in the heart of Waikiki Beach and boasts ocean views. Located in the center of Waikiki Beach, this prestigious hotel boasts ocean views.
Moana Surfrider was founded 121 years ago (!) in 1901. It is said to be the first hotel to open in Waikiki. Many people have stopped to admire the elegant Victorian-style building that stands out on Kalakaua Avenue, a busy street for tourists. The hotel is also famous for resort weddings, and some of you may remember the hotel where you got married some years ago.
The building consists of three wings: the Banyan Wing, the Tower Wing, and the Diamond Wing. On the first floor of the main Banyan Wing is an elegant corridor that dates back to the hotel’s founding, and the staircase leading to the second floor is one of the most photogenic areas in the hotel and a popular spot for wedding photography. The second floor has a historical room where you can view historical exhibits including photos of the hotel and old Waikiki.
There are 791 guest rooms in total. Let’s start with the 432 rooms in the Tower Wing. The Tower Premier Ocean Suites are located on the Diamond Head side of the Tower Wing, closest to Waikiki Beach. Step out onto your lanai and you are greeted with a panoramic view of the sparkling turquoise ocean. The panoramic view spreads out before your eyes.
The rooms are decorated in cozy earth tones that incorporate the natural colors of Hawaii, and the beds are The Westin’s own Heavenly Bed, designed for a comfortable night’s sleep. The bathrooms are spacious with double sinks and TOTO bidet toilets.
The Penthouse Poochella Suite, the most luxurious guestroom in the hotel, is located on the top floor of the Tower Wing on the Diamond Head side, on the 21st floor. The L-shaped glass lanai surrounding the suite is an extraordinary space that makes you feel as if you are floating in the sky. In fact, this is the largest lanai in the Waikiki resort. This penthouse suite can also be used as a reception venue for parties and weddings.
Next is a guest room in the Banyan Wing of the main building, which is also designated as a U.S. Historic Landmark. The Banyan Ocean Suites, overlooking the banyan tree in the courtyard, are decorated in a relaxed style reminiscent of the good old days. Although there is no lanai and the bathrooms are small, you will be able to enjoy the slow flow of Waikiki time.
Overlooking Waikiki Beach, the Moana Surfrider offers a variety of restaurants using fresh local ingredients. The Beach House at the Moana is one of the most popular dining options, offering traditional Hawaiian cuisine, fresh seafood dishes, and the finest steaks.
On the second floor of the Tower Wing is the Moana Lani Spa, Waikiki’s only oceanfront spa. The spa offers a variety of spa menus, including traditional Hawaiian massages and facials using the latest technology. Since most flights to Hawaii arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon, it may be a good idea to make an appointment at the Moana Lani Spa while waiting to check in. You can start your time in Hawaii with a relaxing treatment while listening to the gentle sound of the waves.
