JR East announced that the revision of commuter pass fares applied for to the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism on September 16 was approved on December 27.
With this approval, commuter pass fares will be revised (increasing by approximately 1.4%) and “off-peak” commuter passes (Suica only) will be issued on March 18, 2023, at a price reduced by approximately 10% from the regular commuter pass.
Off-peak commuter passes are available only during off-peak hours on weekday mornings in the Tokyo metropolitan area, and are valid only on sections of Tokyo trains that are completed within a specific section (see separate image). Peak hours vary from station to station, so please refer to the PDF file published by JR East.
