JICA President Akihiko Tanaka met with Rashid Meredov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, at JICA Headquarters on December 23.
Noting that 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Turkmenistan, President Tanaka expressed his desire to continue to expand cooperation, particularly in human resource development, as a reliable partner for a “free and open Central Asia.
In response, Deputy Prime Minister Meredov thanked JICA for nearly 30 years of cooperation, expressed his strong commitment to further development, especially in the education and science sectors, and expressed his hope for cooperation in these areas.
The two sides also exchanged views on possible cooperation in areas such as medicine and statistics.
