New Year’s Message: ANA Holdings President Koji Shibata

Posted on 2023-01-092023-01-09 by Editor in Chief

2023 will be the year of the “jump”.

ANA Holdings, Inc.

President and Representative Director

Koji Shibata

Happy New Year everyone!

Looking back exactly one year ago, the third quarter was the first time in eight quarters that the company returned to profitability (operating income), and President Katanosaka’s (current Chairman) New Year’s Message stated, “The dawn is near.

Subsequently, despite the spread of the 6th and 7th waves of corona infection in Japan, demand gradually recovered and we were able to return to profitability in the first half of FY2010 for the first time in three years. Our current performance is also favorable, and we feel that the night is beginning to dawn.

This is the result of the business structure reforms and cost management that the entire ANA Group has been working on, as well as the tireless efforts of everyone to steadily capture recovery demand.

I would like to once again thank everyone for their hard work and dedication in their respective workplaces as they go about their daily duties in a difficult environment. I would also like to thank the government for its support, including subsidies for jet fuel costs, reductions in navigation and landing fees, and the support of our many stakeholders.

This year marks the turning point from the year of “endurance” to the year of a big “jump”.

In FY2011, we will continue to steadily capture recovering demand and aim to further increase earnings, while actively working to decarbonize our operations through the introduction of SAF and reduction of CO2 emissions from non-aircraft activities, and keeping a close eye on risks that could significantly impact our business, including the re-expansion of corona infection, the situation in Russia and Ukraine, foreign exchange and fuel cost trends, and the global economic slowdown. We will also closely monitor risks that could have a significant impact on our business, such as the reemergence of coronary disease, the situation in Russia and Ukraine, foreign exchange and fuel cost trends, and the global economic slowdown.

In addition, we are currently formulating the next medium-term management strategy for the ANA Group, which will not only be a transformation plan to realize our vision for 2030, but also a strategy that will enable each and every Group employee around the world to feel fulfilled and exert their abilities, which in turn will lead to increased customer satisfaction, economic value, and social value. We will make this a strategy that will lead to increased customer satisfaction, economic value, and social value.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of our founding, which we celebrated with the Corona Disaster, I was reminded of the preciousness and gratitude for the history that our seniors have built with the spirit of “present distress, future promise” and “harmony and cooperation”. I would like to inherit the precious DNA of the ANA Group that transcends time and space, and link it to sustainable development for the next 70 years and 100 years.

Let’s work together as a united group of employees from all over the world and move forward together toward the future of the ANA Group, which is full of dreams.
