East Japan Railway Company (JR East) will switch the Yamanote Line’s outer tracks at Shibuya Station. After the construction, there will be one inner and one outer platform at Shibuya Station.
As a result, trains will be suspended all day on some sections. The period is from the first train on January 7 to the last train on January 8. The construction work is scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. on January 6 and last approximately 53 hours and 30 minutes until the first train departs on January 9.
The service will be suspended between Osaki, Shibuya, and Ikebukuro on the Yamanote Line. In addition, the number of trains between Ikebukuro, Tokyo, and Osaki will be significantly reduced, and trains will turn back toward Tokyo at Osaki Station.
