Sumitomo Mitsui Card, Visa Worldwide Japan, Nippon Signal, and QUADRAC are conducting a demonstration experiment on Visa touch payment through an integrated ticket gate on the Fukuoka City subway.
The company has announced that it will expand the number of stations covered by the service to all lines and stations in conjunction with the opening of the Nanakuma Line extension on March 27, 2012. The period will be extended to March 31, 2024, to support payment brands other than the Visa brand.
The service is available at 36 stations on all three lines: Kuko Line, Hakozaki Line, and Nanakuma Line. The service is available to holders of credit cards, debit cards, prepaid cards, smart phones, and other cards that are compatible with touch-sensitive payment methods. The supported payment brands are Visa, JCB, Amex, Diners, Discover, and UnionPay.
