On January 11, Japan Weather announced the “First Cherry Bloom/Full Bloom Forecast” for the 2023 season for someiyoshino cherry trees at about 1,000 locations from Hokkaido to Kagoshima.
Although the break of dormancy of flower buds was delayed due to the low temperature trend from last fall, they will grow steadily as temperatures rise, and blooming is expected to be on par with or later than normal throughout the country. Flowering is expected to begin around March 22 in Tokyo, Kochi, and Shimonoseki, followed by the Tokai and Kyushu regions.
