On January 17, Rakuten Travel released its “2022 Annual Ranking of Popular Hot Spring Destinations.
The number of overnight stays (=number of guests x number of nights) for each hot spring resort in Japan during the one-year period from January 1 to December 31, 2022, showed that “Atami Onsen” in Shizuoka Prefecture ranked first for the ninth consecutive year. The second place went to Beppu Onsen in Oita Prefecture for the ninth consecutive year, and the third place went to Nasu Onsen in Tochigi Prefecture, which joined the top three for the first time in four years.
