NEXCO East Japan Kanto Branch Office has issued a warning that a low-pressure system that will pass through the southern part of Honshu from the night of January 22 to the daytime of January 24 may cause snow accumulation and icing on road surfaces in the plains of the Kanto region.
Even one vehicle that cannot drive on its own on the highway can lead to long traffic jams and road closures, so it is necessary to install winter tires and carry tire chains in case of sudden snowfall or icing. In particular, the use of tire chains is recommended when driving on snow-covered roads. Also, single axle drive vehicles, articulated vehicles, vehicles with empty loads, and older vehicles, which are more likely to get stuck on snow-covered roads, need to be carefully monitored.
For the latest weather and road information, please check the official NEXCO East Japan website.
