Kintetsu’s “Tobashima Memory” Wrapping Train Running from Ise-Nakagawa to Kenshima Debuts in February. Two trains with images of the sea and waves

Posted on 2023-01-232023-01-23 by Editor in Chief

Kinki Nippon Railway Co. will begin operating two new “Tobashima Memory” trains (two cars per train) to promote the attractions of Toba and Shima, with one train scheduled to debut on February 6 as “Tobashima Memory: Nami no Sho” and the other in late February as “Tobashima Memory: Umi no Sho.

Both trains were designed and named in collaboration between Toba City and Shima City, and were created to be “fun to ride and fun to see” expressing the beautiful local sea. The main service section is from Ise-Nakagawa Station to Kenshima Station (some trains also run between Kintetsu Nagoya Station and Ise-Nakagawa Station), and passengers only need to pay a fare.

On February 3, a departure ceremony will be held at Toba Station for the “Tobashima Memory Nami no Chou” (no general passengers are allowed), and on February 4 (10:00-12:00), an unveiling event for the public will be held at Kashima Station, with a meet and greet with the Shima City PR character “Shimako-san” and commemorative goods. In addition, the public will be greeted by Shima City’s PR character “Shimakosan,” given commemorative gifts, and served aosa (seaweed) soup, a specialty of Shima City.
