Yama-Keikan-Sha, in cooperation with Nankai Railway and the Hashimoto-Ito Wide-area Tourism Council, will conduct the “Koya Pilgrimage Road Stamp Rally” from January 21 to October 31 using the “Yamasta” mountain stamp rally application.
The Koya Pilgrimage Routes, which people walked as they prayed to reach Koyasan, the sacred site of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism at an altitude of 800 meters, are recognized for their value together with the cultural landscape surrounding them, and are registered as a World Heritage Site as “Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range,” including Machisekido, Kurokawaido and Kyodaisakaido Fudozaka.
The four courses that can be visited through the stamp rally using Yamasta are “Maki’o Road,” “Machiishi Road,” “Kyodaisaka Road,” and “Kurokawa Road. In addition to these courses, stamps can also be obtained at five independent checkpoints: “Kongo Sanmiin,” “Niu Tsuhime Shrine,” and “Koya Sanzan (Mt. Mani, Mt. Yangyanagi, and Mt. Tenshoku).
In addition, visitors who complete any of the four courses will receive a commemorative can badge (limited quantity, 27 types), a certificate of achievement, and special pins (100 by lottery) made in collaboration with Yamasanka, a mountain souvenir brand. At the special checkpoints, visitors can receive a commemorative badge (limited quantity, 5 types).
