The Lao government has positioned the mining and construction industry as a driver of economic growth, and has stated that it will utilize new technologies, diversify the economic base, improve productivity, and rebuild the intra-regional and international supply chain. Currently, however, the expertise and skills of Laotian engineers are low, and foreign nationals are often employed in the engineering and middle management positions, making the development of high-quality engineering personnel a challenge. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the facilities, equipment, and teaching materials in the fields of natural sciences and engineering at universities. Of the four national university engineering faculties in the country, the National University of Laos, which produces the largest number of graduates, will focus on improvement efforts in its Faculty of Engineering.
This cooperation will improve the educational and research environment by providing the facilities and equipment necessary for education and research activities at the Faculty of Engineering of the National University of Laos, thereby contributing to the development of high-quality engineering human resources that meet the needs of industry.
