Thailand, as a key player in the supply chain in the Southeast Asian region, is strengthening its quarantine system by enhancing screening at the water’s edge and improving and speeding up inspection capabilities at airports and land border quarantine stations in order to both combat new coronavirus infection and resume economic activities, including tourism. However, the inspection system at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in the country is not yet fully prepared, and it is a challenge to develop a system that can respond to the increased inspection needs in preparation for the increased human flow that will accompany the resumption of economic activities. In addition, community hospitals near the border in rural areas lack sufficient testing, diagnosis, and treatment systems due to a lack of equipment and other factors. Therefore, it is an urgent issue to improve testing, diagnosis, and treatment equipment at hospitals in order to strengthen waterfront measures near the border.
Through this cooperation, equipment for quarantine and border control as well as diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases will be provided in Thailand to strengthen the quarantine system and the diagnosis and treatment system as a waterfront measure to prepare for future infectious disease threats in the border area, contributing to building a robust health system in preparation for the post-corona situation.
