JICA President Akihiko Tanaka met with President Panuelo of the Federated States of Micronesia in Tokyo on February 3.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Tanaka congratulated the Embassy of the Federated States of Micronesia in Japan on the opening of its new office and expressed his appreciation for JICA’s cooperation in the FSM, especially the expectations of the people of the FSM for the activities of the JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteers.

In response, President Paniuello expressed his gratitude for JICA’s cooperation in the Federated States of Micronesia and said that he was pleased to see the resumption of traffic, including technical personnel, which had been interrupted by the Corona disaster, and that all cooperation, including personnel exchange, was important.

We also exchanged views on the need to resume projects that had been suspended due to the Corona Disaster and to consider ways of value-added cooperation in preparation for the 10th Pacific and Islands Summit (PALM 10) to be held in 2024.
