Weathernews has released “Pollen Ch.” on its Weathernews app (Android/iOS) and website, which allows users to check pollen dispersal forecasts and conditions in various regions of Japan.
Pollen (cedar, cypress, and birch) scattering forecasts are displayed every hour or three hours and up to one week in advance, as well as detailed information on how much pollen is flying in real time.
The “Pollen Alarm” app provides a pollen forecast for the day with a push notification at 6:00 a.m. every morning. Temporary information is also sent out in the event of a peak or large amount of airborne pollen. In addition, by answering six questions (sneezing, stuffy nose, itchy eyes, etc.) on the “Hay Fever Check Sheet,” users can receive information on countermeasures for their symptoms.
The company expects cedar pollen to begin dispersing in the Kanto region and parts of Kyushu, Kinki, and Tokai in early February. The company recommends taking countermeasures as early as possible before the full-scale dispersion begins.
