On February 10, based on a request from the government of the Republic of Turkey, JICA decided to dispatch an international emergency relief team and a medical team to the southeastern part of the Republic of Turkey in response to the devastating earthquake that struck the country.

Disaster Situation
At 10:17 a.m. Japan time (4:17 a.m. local time) on February 6, an earthquake occurred with its epicenter near Kahramanmaraş province in southeastern Turkey. The following is a summary of the damage to date.

Dispatch of International Emergency Relief Teams and Medical Teams
Following a request from the government of the Republic of Turkey on February 6, the Japanese government decided on February 10 to dispatch an international emergency rescue team and medical team, and JICA began preparations for the team’s dispatch. JICA has begun preparations for the dispatch of the team.
(1) Teams are scheduled to depart on Friday, February 10 (first group: 5 persons) and Sunday, February 12 (second group: about 30 persons).
(2) A team formation ceremony is scheduled to be held at Haneda Airport on February 12 (Sun.) from 8:30 to 8:45 p.m. to coincide with the departure of the first group.
