Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. held a preview of its first two commercial complexes, Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Kadoma and Mitsui Outlet Park Osaka Kadoma, scheduled to open on April 17. The progress of the project was shown to the press.
The facility is about an 8-minute walk from Kadoma-shi Station on the Keihan Main Line and Osaka Monorail. A new Osaka Monorail station directly connected to the facility is scheduled to open in 2029.
Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Kadoma will be located on the first and third floors of the same building, and Mitsui Outlet Park Osaka Kadoma on the second floor, providing a one-stop shopping experience from everyday shopping to extraordinary shopping such as brand shopping.
The site area is approximately 35,200 tsubo. The store building is a four-story building with a total floor area of approximately 31,100 tsubo. Two 6-story multi-story parking garages are also attached. The parking lot can accommodate approximately 4,300 vehicles.
The first and third floors of LaLaport Kadoma will be home to 153 stores, including 19 stores opening for the first time in Osaka and 11 stores in new business categories, and the “Kadoma Umaimon-gai” food zone will occupy about half the floor space (9600m2) on the first floor. The market, in particular, will be the center of Osaka’s culinary scene. The market, in particular, is officially recognized by Kuromon Ichiba, Osaka’s food kitchen, and 11 stores will open their doors.
On the 3rd floor, there are amusement facilities such as “Ultra Athletic,” which represents the world of Ultraman and is the first of its kind in the Kansai region, and “Sumikkogurashi Asobi Studio,” where visitors can play house and store in the world of Sumikkogurashi, which is the first of its kind in Japan. Terrace,” a food court with over 1,000 seats. There will be 16 stores, including popular local restaurants and stores that are opening for the first time in a commercial facility. The restaurant will also have small seating areas and individual seats with power outlets to meet the needs of all types of customers, from families to individual customers.
On the second floor, Mitsui Outlet Park Osaka Kadoma will open as an expanded relocation and renewal of Mitsui Outlet Park Osaka Tsurumi, which is scheduled to close on March 12. Forty of the 64 stores in Osaka Tsurumi have relocated to Osaka Kadoma. Fifty new stores will be opened, including popular overseas brands and brands that have never opened outlets before, for a total of 98 stores, a significant increase in size. The average floor space per store will also be expanded by 1.4 times to provide more spacious space and a fuller product lineup.
In addition, there are indoor and outdoor plazas where various events can be held.
The rooftop will feature “LOGOS CAFE & HIROTA,” a new outdoor brand “LOGOS,” as well as a kids’ play zone and a “sky plaza” that will serve as a multipurpose plaza where shoppers and local residents can relax.
On the first floor in the center of the facility, a center court equipped with a large 300-inch display is located in the atrium space connecting each floor. Various sports events, which have been popular at “LaLaport Sakai,” which opened last November, are scheduled to be held there.
At the main entrance, where visitors using public transportation such as trains and monorails will first pass through, a “Kusunoki Square,” symbolized by a kusunoki tree, will be created to provide a relaxing space. By arranging a number of event plazas both indoors and outdoors, the facility will provide a real point of contact between people in anticipation of the post-Corona era.
Mr. Kosuke Aizawa of the Regional Business Department, Merchandise Facilities Division of Mitsui Fudosan, who gave an overview of the facility prior to the press release, said, “We have been developing Lalaport and Outlet stores in each area, but the Kadoma location has a thick trade area and is easily accessible from Osaka City, so we anticipated that it would be convenient for customers in the mid-to-wide area, and decided to exhibit the two brands together. The location of Kadoma has a large trade area and is easily accessible from Osaka City. (We hope to achieve further synergy by combining the everyday convenience of Lalaport with the extraordinary nature of an outlet park,” he said.
This facility is part of a large-scale mixed-use development project utilizing the former Panasonic factory site, dividing the former factory site into four city blocks. Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Kadoma and Mitsui Outlet Park Osaka Kadoma will be the core facilities.
In the residential district, an 11-story large-scale condominium with 155 units is scheduled to be completed and occupied by the end of FY2023. In the retail zone, a membership warehouse store, Costco Wholesale Kadoma Warehouse, is scheduled to open this summer on a neighboring site, and Mitsui Fudosan hopes to contribute to the creation of a vibrant town after the opening of Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Kadoma and Mitsui Outlet Park Osaka Kadoma.
