Minn Nijo Castle, a smart hotel using Kyoto machiya houses, opens in March

Posted on 2023-02-13 by Editor in Chief

SQUEEZE and Tokyo Tatemono will open the lifestyle hotel Minn Nijo Castle (17-1 Shinsen-en-cho, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) on March 10. Minn is a hotel brand that offers a relaxing space like home based on the concept of “everyone can stay together” and will make its first entry into Kyoto.

Located on a quiet street with easy access to Nijo Castle, one of Kyoto’s most popular tourist attractions. The hotel has 21 guest rooms in total, creating an extraordinary space based on history and traditional culture with a modern atmosphere.

The building consists of two wings: the Machiya wing, a preserved and restored historic Kyoto machiya, and the Garden wing, an extension of the Machiya that expresses tradition. The first floor of the Machiya wing will have a lounge for guests that retains the atmosphere of a traditional Kyoto machiya while adding a sophisticated design. A shared kitchen will be provided where guests can bring drinks and food purchased at nearby stores, and enjoy cooking, eating, and socializing.

The plan also calls for the introduction of a system that will allow visitors to easily enter and exit the building with a single smartphone during their stay, as well as a call system with overseas operators that can provide multilingual support.
