Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten will release a total of 25 products in collaboration with Studio Ghibli on March 1 at 12:00 pm. The products will be sold through the mail order site and at directly managed stores nationwide. On the same day, “Ghibli and Crafts” will be held at Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten’s Shibuya store to introduce all the collaborative products and the background of craftsmanship.
This is the first collaboration between the two companies. The project was realized because both companies share the same “love of handcraft”: the images created by Studio Ghibli animators from pencils and Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten’s attitude toward craftsmanship.
For the 2023 collaboration, the theme was “My Neighbor Totoro,” a movie released in 1988. 25 items were created with craftspeople from all over Japan, including items that allow the viewer to feel Totoro’s forest in the world of the movie and daily life tools that bring the viewer in touch with nature through use.
