Emergency Relief Aid for Earthquake Damage in the Islamic Republic of Iran -Delivery of Donated Goods
Emergency relief supplies provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for earthquake damage in the Islamic Republic of Iran have been handed over to the country.
Emergency relief supplies for the Islamic Republic of Iran arrived in Tehran on February 16. At 14:30 (local time) on the following day, February 17, a handover ceremony was held at Imam Khomeini International Airport, attended by Mr. Abbas Mohammadi, Deputy Director of Humanitarian Activities, Islamic Republic of Iran Red Crescent Society, and Mr. Osamu Tanaka, JICA Iran Office Director, from Japan.
At the handover ceremony, Deputy Director Mohammadi expressed his deep appreciation for Japan’s prompt assistance and stated that the goods would be promptly delivered to the affected areas in the West Azerbaijan Province and its surrounding areas, which were severely damaged. In response, Mr. Tanaka expressed his hope that the damage caused by the earthquake would be contained as soon as possible.
The relief supplies will be delivered to the victims by the government of Iran and the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
