On February 16, the Japan Weather Association released its second cherry blossom bloom forecast for 49 locations throughout Japan.
In 2023, blooming is expected to be on par with or earlier than normal throughout Japan. The cherry blossom front is expected to start from Fukuoka and Kochi on March 19, with blooming in Miyazaki on March 20 and in Kumamoto on March 21.
Tokyo, Wakayama, Hiroshima, Oita, and other areas are expected to begin blooming on April 22, and by the end of March, a wide area from Kyushu to Kanto will be in full bloom; in early April, Hokuriku, Nagano, and southern Tohoku will begin blooming; in mid-April, northern Tohoku will begin blooming; and in late April, the cherry blossom front will reach Hokkaido. In Hakodate, the cherry blossoms are expected to bloom on April 26.
