The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Loan Agreement (L/A) of up to 15 billion yen with the Government of the Republic of Botswana on February 17 in the capital city of Jaborone for the “Emergency Assistance Loan for New Coronavirus Crisis Response”.
This project will provide financial assistance to the government of Botswana, where the socioeconomic impact of the spread of the new coronavirus has been severe, in order to protect the socially vulnerable, maintain economic activity, and promote green growth, thereby contributing to the country’s economic and social stability and development efforts. The project will co-finance with the World Bank and the African Development Bank and will contribute to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Goal 1 (poverty eradication), 3 (ensuring healthy lives for all), 5 (gender equality), 7 (sustainable energy security), 8 (inclusive and sustainable economic growth), and 13 (combating climate change).
