The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed the Record of Discussions (R/D) with the Royal Thai Government on February 17 in Bangkok on the technical cooperation project “ASEAN-Japan Capacity Enhancement Program on Cyber Security and Digital Trust Services. As cybersecurity risks are becoming enormous with the advancement of digitalization, Japan, in cooperation with the ASEAN Secretariat and the Government of Thailand, has been working with the ASEAN Secretariat and the Government of Thailand since 2018 to develop cybersecurity capacity building centers (ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Capacity Building Centre. Through the AJCCBC, Japan has been developing cybersecurity human resources across ASEAN.
This project is the first of a series of technical cooperation projects under the technical cooperation agreement with the ASEAN Secretariat, which aims to further enhance the training provided by the AJCCBC and contribute to improving the cyber security response capabilities of the ASEAN region as a whole. Through this project, the AJCCBC will contribute to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Goals 9 (Create a foundation for industry and technological innovation) and 17 (Achieve the goals through partnership).
