Virgin Australia Airlines has begun selling tickets in advance of the launch of its Haneda-Cairns route. The flight will begin on June 28, with one round-trip flight per day.
Virgin Australia Airlines Haneda – Cairns route (from June 28, 2023)
Flight VA78: Haneda (21:45) to Cairns (06:15), daily
Flight VA77: Cairns (13:15) to Haneda (20:00), daily
The Haneda-Cairns route will be operated by a Boeing 737-8 aircraft, of which the company plans to introduce eight in 2023, with three classes of seats: business class (8 seats), economy X (30 seats) with extra legroom, and economy class (138 seats).
Business Class includes a 96.5cm seat pitch, complimentary in-flight Wi-Fi, in-flight meals, 32kg x 2 checked baggage, a total of 7kg (up to 2 pieces) carry-on baggage, priority check-in, and priority boarding.
In-flight meals are not included in Economy X and Economy Class, but can be purchased onboard using a credit card. Both classes also allow passengers to view in-flight entertainment using their own smartphones or tablets (app required).
As this is a new aircraft, some of the details around the seats are not yet clear, but the business class is equipped with power outlets, and the economy X/economy class also has USB charging ports due to the system of watching in-flight entertainment on their own devices.
