The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Loan Agreement (L/A) with the Government of India for two projects totaling up to 40,673 million yen on February 27 in Delhi.
The two projects covered by the yen loan agreements signed this time are as follows.
(1) Mumbai Bay Crossing Road Construction Project (Phase III) (Loan amount: 30,755 million yen)
(2) Mizoram State Advanced Specialized Cancer Research Center Establishment Project (Loan amount: 9,918 million yen)
Details of each business are as follows
(1) Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link Project (Phase III)
(a) Purpose and outline of business
This project will construct an 18-km-long marine road and a 4-km-long land approach road in the Mumbai metropolitan area in Maharashtra, connecting central Mumbai on the peninsula side with the Navi Mumbai area on the eastern suburbs across the Mumbai Bay. This will improve connectivity to the Navi Mumbai area, where urban development is planned, and contribute to further economic growth by promoting regional economic development, thereby contributing to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Goals 8, 9, 11, and 13.

(2) Project for the Establishment of Mizoram State Super-Specialty Cancer and Research Centre
(a) Purpose and outline of business
This project aims to establish a state cancer research center in Mizoram, a state with a particularly high cancer incidence and mortality rate in India, and to build a cancer system in the state centered on the center. The project will provide sufficient access to cancer prevention, screening, and treatment for the residents of the state, and promote human resource development and research to support cancer control in the state, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the state’s cancer health care system and contributing to Goal 3 of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
