On March 9, Awajiya will release “Wadamisaki Line 103 Series Yuukyuu Commemorative Lunchbox,” a boxed lunch commemorating the 103 Series that will be retiring from the Wadamisaki Line on March 18.
The 103 Series trains on the Wadamisaki Line (a branch line of the Sanyo Main Line) have been running on the 2.7 km route between Hyogo Station and Wadamisaki Station for about 22 years since the line was electrified in July 2001.
Since the service is only available in the morning and evening, a special luxury version of the company’s popular “Japanese Breakfast Bento” was devised. The contents include ume rice balls, black sesame rice balls, Kobe beef sukiyaki, yaki ni nimono, squid stew, dashimaki egg, salted salmon, grilled plate kamaboko, and seasoned nori (seaweed). The paper box is designed to resemble a 103 series train. The price is 1030 yen.
They will be sold at Awajiya station stores (Shin-Kobe, Kobe, Nishi Akashi, Tsuruhashi), as well as at a special store on the concourse of JR Sannomiya Station Central Exit (March 9-20 only). The sale will end when the planned number of 3,000 is reached. The product will not be sold at Hyogo Station, our online store, or department store outlets.
