Universal Studios Japan has announced on its official website, “Safe and Secure Park Operation,” that the policy of wearing masks will be “based on individual judgment” from March 13.
The facility has so far complied with the “Guidelines for Prevention of the Spread of New Coronavirus Infection in Amusement Parks and Theme Parks” published by the Japanese government, and has also taken thorough measures to strengthen hygiene. At present, hand sanitizers and masks are still recommended in the parks (except for outdoor areas where people can be kept at a safe distance or when taking pictures without much conversation).
The East Japan Amusement Park Association, West Japan Amusement Park Association, Oriental Land, U.S.J., and other supporting businesses have announced that the guidelines will be discontinued as of May 8.
For details, please check the official website of each facility.
