In Honduras, the majority of land cargo is transported by road, and logistics relies heavily on road transportation. National Highway 1, which is part of the Pan American Highway (PAH), an international highway that connects North, Central, and South America and serves as the backbone of land transportation, plays an important role in the maintenance and development of the region and the country’s economy, as well as in the employment and livelihood of the region’s residents. However, Route 1 has a large bridge, the Guasi Lope Bridge, which was built in 1943. The bridge is noticeably damaged and deteriorated, and does not meet the PAH’s uniform design standards, so it needs to be replaced.
This cooperation will replace the aging Guassilope Bridge to promote logistics in the region and ensure the safety of the bridge, thereby contributing to the maintenance of the infrastructure of life and economic activities in the country and surrounding areas.
