Tokyo Monorail has applied for approval to change rail passenger fares in preparation for the March 2024 revision.
The number of passengers has decreased due to the spread of new coronavirus infection and new lifestyles, and it is expected to be difficult to recover to the pre-coronavirus level in the future. In order to maintain stable transportation service under these circumstances, and to promote the improvement of convenience due to the reconstruction of Hamamatsucho Station and other measures, we have decided to revise fares for the first time in 25 years.
The revision rate is 10.8% and the revenue increase rate is 10.6%, resulting in an average revision rate of 11.5% for regular passenger fares. The starting fare will increase from 157 yen to 177 yen for 1 yen increments and from 160 yen to 1,180 yen for 10 yen increments, while other sections will also increase by 27 to 45 yen for 1 yen increments and 0 to 40 yen for 10 yen increments. For example, the fare between Monorail Hamamatsucho and Haneda Airport will increase from 500 yen to 520 yen.
The commuter pass fares will be increased by an average of 16.1% from the current maximum fare. However, since the price was reduced in October 2019, the average revision rate from the current implementation fare will be 25.2%. In contrast, commuter pass fares will remain unchanged in consideration of the burden on households.
The average discount rate for commuter pass fares will be reduced from the current 49.6% to 47.8%, and from the current 75.5% to 78.1% for commuter pass fares.
