Hokkaido Air System celebrates 25th anniversary! Ceremony and scenic flight with Snow Miku and Tappy

Posted on 2023-03-31 by Editor in Chief

HAC (Hokkaido Air System), based at Sapporo Okadama Airport, celebrated its 25th anniversary on March 28, and on March 29, a commemorative ceremony, a sightseeing flight within Sapporo, and advance sales of original goods were held to mark the 25th anniversary.

In addition, this year, the 25th anniversary of the airline’s launch, a tie-up with “Snow Miku,” a character representing Sapporo, is underway. The “Let’s Fly Hokkaido’s Skies Campaign” is underway.

At the commemorative ceremony, President Eiji Takemura said, “In 2023, we would like to make Hokkaido even more exciting from the air, overcoming Corona and even more so than before Corona. As the snow melts and the season of fresh greenery becomes more beautiful, I hope that you will take advantage of HAC’s wings to travel to various parts of Hokkaido,” he said in his address. He expressed his gratitude to all those who have supported the airline over the 25 years it has been in service.

In addition to guests of honor, “Snow Miku” and “Tappi,” the mascot character of Sapporo’s Higashi Ward, also came to congratulate the commemorative ceremony.

In addition, the original music to be used in the campaign, which began accepting applications in February, was announced, and HAC’s original Snow Miku merchandise was also unveiled.

After the ceremony, 24 elementary school children and their parents participated in the Sapporo City scenic flight, 12 pairs of children who narrowly passed the 10-fold application limit.

Blocked out of Sapporo Okadama Airport at 14:06. The aircraft took off from RWY14, made a large right turn just before Kitahiroshima City, and then made another right turn over Ishikari City. The aircraft made a figure-eight flight over Sapporo City. Although the aircraft was relatively bumpy due to the air currents over Sapporo, the participating elementary school students looked intently at the scenery on the ground as they searched for their houses from the sky.

The aircraft, carrying 42 passengers including related parties, landed at RWY32 at 2:34 p.m. after a scenic flight of about 30 minutes. Upon returning to Okadama Airport, the participants received commemorative gifts from President Takemura and the flight attendants upon disembarkation, and headed home with smiles on their faces.
