The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) renewed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation with the European Investment Bank (EIB) on March 10. The signing took place at JICA Headquarters between JICA Director Hironori Shibata and EIB Vice President Ambroise Fayol.
JICA and EIB signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the occasion of the European Connectivity Forum held in Brussels in September 2019. Since the signing of the MOU, JICA and EIB have held annual partnership talks to co-finance projects related to improving women’s access to finance and supporting SMEs (see note).
Through this renewal of the MOU, we will strengthen our collaboration in promoting infrastructure investment based on the G20 Principles on Quality Infrastructure Investment adopted by the G20 in 2019, especially in investment and technical assistance in the areas of climate change mitigation, fair energy transition, strengthening resilience to climate change, and microfinance. We will continue to strengthen our collaboration in the areas of investment, financing, and technical assistance in the following areas.
