The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Loan Agreement (L/A) of up to 15 billion yen with the Government of the Plurinational State of Bolivia in La Paz on March 30 for the “Emergency Assistance Loan for New Coronavirus Infections”.
This project will provide financial support to Bolivia, which is experiencing serious socioeconomic impact from the spread of the new coronavirus disease, for the continuation and expansion of public services in the health and medical sectors and for the improvement of policy systems to protect vulnerable groups that are the precondition for these services. The project will contribute to Bolivia’s economic and social stability and development efforts, and contribute to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) 1 (End Poverty), 2 (Zero Hunger), and 3 (Health and Well-Being for All).
This project is a co-financing in the health sector under the CORE (Cooperation for Economic Recovery and Social Inclusion) co-financing framework with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and is expected to expand the cooperative effects through cooperation with the IDB.
