Three NEXCO companies and others resume fixed-rate discounts for motorcycles on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays; 37.5% discount for over 100 km.

Posted on 2023-04-012023-04-01 by Editor in Chief

NEXCO East Japan, NEXCO Central Japan, NEXCO West Japan, and Miyagi Prefecture Road Public Corporation will start offering a fixed rate discount for motorcycles using the ETC system on weekends and holidays from April 1. In advance of this, they have begun accepting applications for the discount.

The 37.5% discount is applied to motorcycles that travel more than 100 km between interchanges within the applicable roads. However, if a traveler transfers to a qualifying road via a specific IC, toll booth, or new direct-control section, the distance traveled on each qualifying road is considered to be one trip and the total distance traveled is added up. If there are multiple routes between interchanges, the discount is determined based on the distance of the shortest route, not the actual distance traveled, in order to apply the least expensive fare.

The discount is available on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from April 1 to November 26, and must be applied for before using the expressway. The roads eligible for the discount are expressways managed by the three NEXCO companies and the Miyagi Prefectural Road Public Corporation. Daisan Keihin Road, Yokohama New Road, Yokohama Yokosuka Road, Daini-Hanna Road, Daini-Shinmei Road, Kanmon Tunnel, Okinawa Road, and Tokyo Bay Aqualine are not eligible. Note that the Tokyo Bay Aqualine is included in the determination of mileage.
