JR West Hotels and Marriott International will open a new brand hotel, THE OSAKA STATION HOTEL, Autograph Collection, in the JP Tower Osaka in the west area of Osaka Station in summer 2024.
Osaka Station was established in the late 19th century as the second railroad line in Japan. It was a Western-style station building made of red bricks rather than traditional wooden construction, and has been repeatedly relocated, expanded, and remodeled. There were plans to add a full-fledged hotel to the station, but due to the effects of World War II and other factors, these plans were never realized. In light of this historical significance, the hotel will be named the “Osaka Station Hotel” as it will be opened on the site of the first Osaka Station 150 years later.
The hotel will have a total of 418 guest rooms, which will be directly connected to the West Exit of JR Osaka Station, as well as to the Umekita Underground Exit via the JR Osaka Station underground walkway. In addition, the hotel will be directly connected to JR Osaka Station via a pedestrian deck to be constructed on the second floor, as well as to Garden Avenue, an underground pedestrian street in Nishi-Umeda.
