Unseasonal Snow Possible in Tohoku and Hokuriku Areas on April 8-9; Expressway Companies Urge Caution

The Tohoku Regional Development Bureau and the Hokuriku Regional Development Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism are calling for attention to the possibility of unseasonal snowfall and icy road surfaces due to strong cold air flow from April 8 to 9.

In response, NEXCO East Japan and NEXCO Central Japan have also issued an advisory to check the latest weather forecasts and road traffic information, as there is a possibility of snow accumulation and road icing in the Tohoku region and mountainous areas in Niigata, Nagano, and Gunma prefectures, and road closures may occur if the amount of snowfall increases.
