Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Kadoma and Mitsui Outlet Park Osaka Kadoma (MOP Osaka Kadoma), Mitsui Fudosan’s first two commercial complexes, are large-scale commercial facilities to be established in Kadoma City, Osaka Prefecture. They are located about an 8-minute walk from Kadoma City Station on the Keihan Main Line and Osaka Monorail Line. The most distinctive feature of this facility is that it is the company’s first two-industry commercial complex, combining a shopping mall and an outlet mall in a single building. The first and third floors of the building will house LaLaport Kadoma, and the second floor will house MOP Osaka Kadoma. On the rooftop, there will be a “Sky Plaza” with a multipurpose plaza, kids’ park, café, and other facilities. The site area is approximately 35,200 tsubo, and the store building is a four-story structure with a total floor area of approximately 31,100 tsubo. There will be 251 stores: 153 at LaLaport Kadoma and 98 at MOP Osaka Kadoma. Of these, 20 Lalaport Kadoma stores will open for the first time in Osaka, and 17 MOP Osaka Kadoma stores will open for the first time as Kansai outlet stores (4 of them will open for the first time as outlet stores in Japan). In addition, there will be two 6-story multi-story parking garages with a capacity of approximately 4,300 vehicles. In addition, a new adjacent station is scheduled to open in 2029 in conjunction with the extension of the Osaka Monorail line, and will be directly connected to MOP Osaka Kadoma on the second floor via a connecting passageway. In the surrounding area, construction of facilities such as the Costco Wholesale Kadoma Warehouse in the summer of 2023 and the Park Homes LaLa Kadoma condominium in December 2023 are scheduled to be completed, and a business office of Towa Pharmaceutical is also scheduled to be established.
Of the 153 stores in LaLaport Kadoma, 20 are opening for the first time in Osaka. LaLaport Kadoma occupies the first and third floors of the store building. There are a total of 153 stores, 20 of which are opening for the first time in Osaka, and 11 of which are opening in new business categories (a list of all stores is provided at the end of this article). On the first floor, there is a food zone called “Kadoma Umaimon-gai” near the entrance, and a shopping zone at the rear of the food zone, while the third floor is mostly a shopping zone including specialty stores and a food court called “Food Terrace” at the rear. The shopping zone will feature a wide variety of stores, including fashion, accessories, and miscellaneous goods. Among the fashion-related stores, the most notable is Forever 21, the first store to re-launch in Japan. The 400m2 store offers women’s apparel, accessories, and household goods. FOREVER 21 was once popular in Japan as a leader of the fast fashion boom, but withdrew from the market in 2019, partly due to its inability to offer items tailored to the needs of the Japanese market. Upon its re-launch in Japan, the company plans to offer items tailored to the Japanese market and trends, and its future development will be closely watched. Also, Chaihane DEPO, which sells ethnic and Asian fashion and sundries, will open its first store in Osaka with an outlet section. Kosé’s concept cosmetics store “Cosmeteria” and Korean cosmetics specialty store “STAR BOX” will open their first stores in Osaka. Mizushima Shobo will open “MIZUSHIMA Select Books & Select Goods + Kodomo-to,” a new type of store that offers goods that stimulate children’s curiosity and allow them to learn while playing. The first Kodomo-to store opened at LaLaport Sakai in November 2022, but this will be the first collaborative store with a bookstore. The store will also feature a book exhibition zone with a large number of children’s books, aiming for a synergistic effect between the bookstore and Kodomo-to. Another interesting store is Nissan Osaka LaLaport Kadoma, a store operated by automobile manufacturer Nissan, which is positioned as an antenna store to provide the latest information on Nissan vehicles. At the same time, Nissan vehicles, such as the Nissan Sakura light EV, will be on display for visitors to touch and ride in. This is also the first Nissan store to open in Osaka.
