Tokyo Metro to test QR code-based boarding service on Marunouchi Line

Posted on 2023-04-17 by Editor in Chief

Tokyo Metro (Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd.) will conduct a QR code-based ride service verification experiment on the Marunouchi Line from April 25 to June 25.

In this experiment, QR code-readable tablets will be installed at the automatic ticket gates of Shinjuku, Yotsuya-Sanchome, Awaji-cho, Ochanomizu, and Ikebukuro stations (Central Passage East ticket gate only). Passengers will be able to pass through the ticket gates by holding up the purchased “Digital 1-Day Ticket”. At stations where no tablets are installed, the staff will check the digital one-day pass and guide you through the ticket gate.

Digital one-day passes will be sold in combination with NearMe’s cab service, Real World Games’ spot-touring events, and via-at’s workspace use service. For example, NearMe’s service includes Haneda Airport transportation and a one-day pass for the Marunouchi Line, with fees based on the area of use.
