BEAMS will open a permanent store “BEAMS Japan Nikko” on April 15, 2012, at the Omotesando of Nikko Toshogu Shrine.

BEAMS JAPAN is a project launched by BEAMS in 2016 to promote the goodness of Japan to the world. As part of the project, BEAMS Japan develops souvenirs and operates stores at famous and scenic spots in Japan in cooperation with local businesses. This will be the second store to open in Japan, following the opening of BEAMS JAPAN Izumo on the approach to Izumo-taisha Shrine in Shimane in December 2022.

The store carries souvenirs that can only be purchased here, as well as other fine products selected by BEAMS JAPAN from all over Japan. Sales staff with local connections will stand in the store and introduce the charms of Tochigi, Nikko, and Japan to domestic and international visitors to Nikko Toshogu Shrine.

Limited-edition products developed by BEAMS JAPAN and local businesses will also be on sale. The lineup includes “Nikko-Bori” from Igarashi Lacquer Ware Shop, which inherited the techniques used in the construction of Nikko Toshogu Shrine in the Edo period; “Kanuma Broom” and “Kibigara-zaiku” from Kibigara Studio; pouches by Nikko Momijiika, which effectively uses the leather from deer captured in Nikko for environmental conservation; and goods using Oya stone from Maruoka, a stone shop in the stone production area of Oya in Tochigi Prefecture. The lineup is rich in variety, including goods made of Oya stone from Oya, a stone production area in Tochigi Prefecture.

The “BEAMS JAPAN NIKKO” logo items, such as bags and T-shirts, have the theme of “Daigan Jyosei” (fulfillment of a great desire), inspired by Ieyasu Tokugawa, who is enshrined at Nikko Toshogu Shrine. Some of the items are gold-colored, inspired by the gold-leafed gate of the national treasure, Yomeimon Gate.

From 10:00 on April 15, as a novelty on the first day of the opening, the first 200 customers will receive a “BEAMS JAPAN NIKKO” wooden tag made of precious Nikko Namiki cedar, which has been specially licensed for use by Nikko Toshogu Shrine. The first 200 customers to arrive at the store will receive a “BEAMS JAPAN NIKKO” wooden tag made from a precious Nikko Namiki cedar tree specially licensed by Nikko Toshogu.
