Chichibu Yado, a hotel for the whole town in a renovated old private house. Experience the town of Chichibu with a town walking passport in hand.

Japanese Space Tadzu “Japanese Space Tadzu” has two rooms. Built in 1928, the building was originally used as a peddler’s inn and has been renovated as a multipurpose art space since 2008. Rates start at 16,600 yen per room (per person) for two people. SHIRAUME: A building that was once used as an inn was renovated into a maisonette style. It is named after the ume tree in the garden. The layout is 21.87m2 on the first floor and 21.06m2 on the second floor, with two single beds and two sets of futons, and a capacity of 1 to 4 persons. GINMOKUSEI: GINMOKUSEI This two-story room in an old private house is named after the silvermokusei tree in the garden. The layout is 25.11m2 on the first floor and 22.68m2 on the second floor, with two semi-double beds and two sets of futons. The capacity is for one to four people.

Hakoniwa Sarugakuan “Hakoniwa Sarugakuan” was renovated to provide a comfortable stay while retaining as much of the chic atmosphere as possible by former resident Uzaku Maruyama. There are two rooms available, with rates starting at 16,600 yen per room (per person) for two people. UCHA-GIKO: USAGI The rooms are decorated throughout with artwork and named “UCHA-GIKO” after Uzaku, who loved calligraphy and sculpture. The room is 37.3m2 with two single beds and two sets of futons. Capacity is for one or two persons. KAWAZU: The name comes from a frog paired with a rabbit in a caricature of birds and animals. Works by Uzaku are displayed throughout the house, and the table in the living room is a sunken hearth. The floor plan is 42.3m2, and four sets of futons are provided. The room can accommodate 1 to 4 people.

Private baths with sauna “Kiri no Takumi Yoshi” has two private baths with sauna available for day-trippers. Visitors can choose from two types of saunas: a dry sauna (Karari no Yu) and a mist sauna (Shito no Yu). Reservations are required, and rates are 3300 yen on weekdays/3900 yen on holidays for 45 minutes, and 6600 yen on weekdays/7800 yen on holidays for 105 minutes.
