EcoFlow launches portable refrigerator “GLACIER” and portable air conditioner “WAVE 2

Posted on 2023-04-24 by Editor in Chief

EcoFlow Technology Japan will release GLACIER, a portable refrigerator, and WAVE 2, a new portable air conditioner model, on May 10, and will accept pre-orders at online stores and electronics retailers starting April 26.

GLACIER is a portable refrigerator with refrigeration, freezing, and ice-making functions; the 23-liter and 15-liter storage compartments can be switched to refrigeration or freezing, respectively, and the temperature can be set from a smartphone via Wi-Fi/Bluetooth. The ice-making function can produce 18 cubes of ice in 12 minutes.

The battery pack (33,000 yen) has a capacity of 298 Wh and is capable of approximately 40 hours in refrigerated mode, 19 hours in frozen mode, and 10 ice-making cycles. The battery pack also has a USB Type-C port for charging smartphones and other devices.

It measures 776 x 385 x 445 mm and weighs 23 kg, giving it the size of a slightly larger cooler box. It is priced at 124,300 yen.

The WAVE 2 is an evolution of the previous model, which was designed for cooling only, to be compatible with cooling and heating, and is approximately 20% more compact. 1500W cooling function lowers the temperature of a space of 10m2 or less by 10°C in approximately 5 minutes, and 1800W heating function raises the temperature by 10°C in approximately 5 minutes.

The battery pack (110,000 yen), which can be attached to the bottom of the unit, has a capacity of 1159 Wh and can operate for up to 8 hours. It has three modes: energy-saving mode, sleep mode, and rapid mode, which can also be remotely operated from a smartphone. The battery pack has USB Type-A and USB Type-C ports for powering smartphones and other devices.

According to Marketing Director Taku Nakai, this model was improved after listening to negative feedback from users of the previous model, such as its large size, heavy weight, too loud exhaust, and unsatisfactory cooling performance. The previous model used R134a, a refrigerant used in car air conditioners, but the new model uses the environmentally friendly R290.

It will be priced at 143,000 yen, and a set with a battery pack will be available for 245,300 yen.
