Representatives from the Walt Disney Company and Oriental Land took the stage for the ceremony. They announced the opening of the anniversary event and congratulated the guests on their 40th anniversary.

Oriental Land celebrated the 40th anniversary of Tokyo Disney Resort on April 15 with the Tokyo Disney Resort 40th Anniversary “Dream Go Round” event. Disney Resort 40th Anniversary Opening Ceremony” was held today to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the grand opening of Tokyo Disney Resort in 1983.

In addition, “Dream Garland stickers” and “Dream Garland cards,” already a popular communication tool, were distributed throughout the World Bazaar, and guests and cast members had a great time.

We spoke with some of the guests whose 40th anniversary logo birthday stickers were shining brightly, and they told us, “It’s raining, but I love the festive mood of the park on April 15, no matter what the weather! I come to the park every year on April 15 because I am excited just to be able to experience the atmosphere.

Before the ceremony, Cast Members lined up on both sides of the World Bazaar, which was decorated for the 40th anniversary, for a welcome greeting. With “Dream Garland” and flags with the 40th anniversary logo in hand, they welcomed many guests in a festive mood.

The ceremony was held on a show basis! This is just the start. I look forward to the next 40 years,” said Bob Iger, CEO.

The ceremony was held in the rain, but did you know that it was also held in the rain on April 15, 1983? The ceremony was held in the rain at the World Bazaar in Megumi, but this time it was held at the “Show Base” in Tomorrowland.

Toshio Kagami, Chairman and CEO of Oriental Land, took the stage at the beginning of the ceremony. He thanked the Cast Members who have brought happiness to the Guests visiting Tokyo Disney Resort, as well as all the other companies that have supported the company.

He introduced Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, and Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Park Experience and Products, who were on hand for the ceremony, and said, “Through a deep understanding of Japanese sensibilities and culture, and the combined efforts of our two companies, we have created the Tokyo Disney Resort as it is today, He also introduced Bob Iger, CEO of the Disney Parks Company, and Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Park Experience and Products.

He added, “For about a year, the entire resort will be celebrating the 40th anniversary in a grand way. I hope you will enjoy Tokyo Disney Resort to the fullest, where dreams and magic truly abound. As a theme park that will never be completed, Tokyo Disney Resort will continue to evolve and grow. We will continue to strive to make Tokyo Disney Resort a one-of-a-kind resort that can only be experienced in Tokyo. I hope you will all look forward to our continued efforts.

Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, said, “I would like to thank Mr. Kagami for walking with us on this wonderful journey. We are thrilled to witness this historic day.

He added, “Disney Legends Masatomo Takahashi and E. Cardon Walker, who were the first to embark on this journey, did everything in their power to make the first overseas Disney Park a reality. The opening of Tokyo Disney Resort marked the beginning of a new era of Disney storytelling on the world stage, and their achievement is forever marked as a chapter in the shared history of Oriental Land and The Walt Disney Company,” he added.

And now, with passion and wisdom, a new team from Disney and Oriental Land is carrying on that legacy. They are building on the history of this special place to create even more unforgettable experiences for fans and families in Japan and around the world.

He also mentioned the new Fantasy Springs area at Tokyo DisneySea, which will be newly created in the spring of 2024.

We both have high hopes for the future, and our 40th anniversary festivities mark the beginning of the next chapter in our story. We are excited about the new themed port that will be the biggest expansion project for Tokyo DisneySea in the years to come. Walt Disney once said that Disneyland will continue to grow as long as there is imagination in the world. Our efforts at the Walt Disney Company and here at the Tokyo Disney Resort show that this statement is true,” he said. I look forward to the next 40 years.

Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Park Experience and Products, said, “It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Tokyo Disney Resort. Every time I come to Tokyo Disney Resort, I’m struck by the enthusiasm and passion for the Disney brand that I feel everywhere I go,” said Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. I think you understand what Disney means to the world.

I have learned so much with all of you throughout our journey thus far. We are grateful for this important relationship and bond and look forward to many more celebrations ahead. We look forward to bringing the new Fantasy Springs to life soon, and wish you a very happy 40th anniversary and many more adventures ahead.

Kenji Yoshida, President and COO of Oriental Land said, “Tokyo Disneyland has returned to bustle with life and smiles on the faces of our Guests. It is precisely because of this that I would like to emphasize one word: “Connection. That word is “connection. We have prepared for the 40th Anniversary of Tokyo Disney Resort “Dream Go Round” with this word in mind.

Tokyo Disney Resort is a place where the dreams of Guests, Cast Members, and Disney friends are connected, and I would like to make this a special year to further deepen that “connection. We will work hard to continue to be a place where everyone’s dreams are connected.

After the ceremony, the stage show “Club Mouse Beat” was performed. In the finale of the show, Mickey Mouse and his friends appeared on stage in 40th anniversary costumes, adding to the festive atmosphere of the venue.

Mickey Mouse shouted, “Let’s celebrate the 40th Anniversary together! and “Living in Color – Tokyo Disney Resort 40th Anniversary ‘Dream Go Round’ Theme Song” echoed in the background, Minnie Mouse and other Disney friends gathered in large numbers!

Flags and silver tape flew in the air with the impressive phrase “Nanairo” to celebrate the opening of the 40th anniversary of Tokyo Disney Resort.
